Solomons Youth Lacrosse Club is registering for this year's season, which begins in March and runs through May. Practices will start mid-February. Gianna Grace is the cutest little 17 month old baby girl, who was

diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on January 3, 2013 after

being taken in to the doctor for yellowing of her skin and not being

able to walk on her own. She was well just days beforehand. Gianna has

Expert appraisers will represent the following categories:  fine arts, jewelry, vintage dolls, and U.S. coins. The fine arts category encompasses a broad spectrum of items, including ceramics, pottery, glassware, artwork/paintings, music boxes, and curiosity items. Items in this category are limited to two items per person for a fee of $5 per item.  Other category fees are $5 for the first two items and $10 per item thereafter. This is an excellent opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have regarding the FAFSA, as well as gain an understanding of why certain questions are asked. The American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT), in cooperation with the Calvert County Cooperative Extension of the University of Maryland, Battle Creek Nature Education Society, and Cove Point Natural Heritage Trust; will be offering a Maryland Master Naturalist training beginning February 11, 2013. Maryland's cities and towns? The Maryland Municipal League (MML) is set to open the Discovering Maryland MML Geotrail on January 5, 2013. "Geocaching," is a free, interactive outdoor treasure hunt. Participating players seek to locate hidden containers, called "caches" using their smart phone or Global Positioning System (GPS). This is the League's second state-wide trail. The trail's theme, Discovering Maryland, is designed to promote awareness of and visits to Maryland's municipalities.  Geocachers can access the coordinates, anytime after 1 p.m. on January 5, by registering at www.geocaching.com. Basic registration is free. Locally, the Town of Leonardtown has established a new cache and welcomes participants to take on the challenge!

Boys Youth Lacrosse Clinic and Registration will be held the four Sundays in January in the Chopticon High School Gym for new and experienced players ages 5 - 14 years old.  Clinics are $5.00 per player from 12-3 pm. It is a great way to try out the sport! Calvert Hospice is offering a free, 7-week course to help grieving persons integrate loss into life in healthy ways. This class provides an opportunity for sharing and learning around a common theme, “Understanding Your Grief: Ten Essential Touchstones for Finding Hope and Healing Your Heart.”   Pre-registration is required to attend this series of group sessions. There is no cost and a course book will be provided.  Participants may choose to purchase or return their course book at the end of the study.
